A group of shugenja and samurai intervened, finding her in the Palace Kitchen, displaying unnatural behavior despite the summer heat. They prepared to contain the spirit using a Threshold Barrier in the Central Garden, where she was drawn to a fish pond. The situation escalated into a series of rituals and confrontations to expel the spirit, culminating in the Ifrit being contained in a new vessel after a dramatic struggle. Plans have been made to journey to the Burning Sands to release a Fire Spirit causing disturbances. The spirit agreed to remain contained temporarily if it could be taken away from water and released beyond the last large river north of the mountains, near a shrine to a Fortune and past the Border Waystation. This journey is estimated to take a week on fast horses, reflecting the distance and difficulty of reaching the Burning Sands from the City of the Rich Frog.
