The Palace Kitchen is a bustling area within the Governor’s Palace, notable for its large furnace and the pervasive smell of cooking. It is mid-summer, yet the kitchen is filled with an unnatural heat. A disheveled woman in a purple dress frantically feeds logs into the furnace while expressing that she feels cold. Her erratic behavior contrasts sharply with the expected decorum of a noble in the Governor’s Palace. Observers note her sweating, ravenous eating, and jerky movements, indicating something is deeply wrong.
The woman is discovered to be possessed by a spirit. In an effort to contain and expel the spirit, a Threshold Barrier is prepared around a nearby fish pond in the Central Garden, identified as the most controllable space. In a confused state, the woman wanders to the pond, undresses, and begins bathing, even plucking and consuming a goldfish raw. The group engages in various rituals and confrontations, ultimately leading to the expulsion of a powerful Ifrit spirit from her. After a series of intense interactions, the spirit is successfully contained in a new vessel, and the woman's condition is assessed, revealing her to be physically stable but emotionally shaken.
